VOLT

A whole taxi service: dispatch, apps for the passenger and the driver, fares, zones and finances on one backend.

  • Dispatch
  • iOS + Android
  • Fares and zones
  • Finance

What the client came with

Launch a taxi service in a small city from scratch — so the dispatcher sees everything on one screen and the passenger orders a ride without a call.

What we built

  • A dispatcher panel of 15 screens
  • A mobile app of 23 screens — for the passenger and for the driver
  • A service site with links to the app
  • Flexible fares and city zones
  • Financial loop: revenue, driver balances, promo codes

What’s inside the panel

  • Orders in progress with statuses and pickup timing
  • Drivers: balances, rating, documents, going on shift
  • Passengers and ride history
  • Fares, zones, promo codes, banners
  • Finances and daily demand in charts
  • City address directory

Details worth knowing

Before launch there was a separate overnight run of all the money logic. It found what would have broken on day one: production still had the old fares, and the first passenger would have paid 80 ₴ instead of the agreed 130, while the driver would have been short by half.

Prices on the home page were once hard-coded by hand — a person saw one number on the site and another in the app. Now the page takes the fare from the same table as the ride calculation.

The commission split was checked in ten variants, kopecks at 33.33% included — it adds up to the kopeck. Two services in one city share a common order flow: the money goes to the one whose driver took the order.

The service owner can’t rewrite the platform terms, draw themselves a balance or see other people’s data — the role boundaries were tested separately, not just assumed.

The city building directory builds itself: when a driver taps “I’m here”, the service remembers the entrance coordinates. A few hundred rides later the service knows the city better than any map does.

The panel shows a heat map of “when people order” over the past weeks — you can see when to put more cars on the road.
